Berkley Drive AI Policy

important note: ai is the future. there is no use fighting what has been done years in the making. and while this author is still in the process of learning about artificial intelligence, its benefits and consequences, it is imperative that personal guardrails must be established. all things must be regulated. and thus, this author is imposing the following policies based on her personal beliefs and learnings. this policy list will be updated as technology progress and the author learns:

• be faithful to your humanity; do not let ai fully dictate your ways of thinking, ways of seeing the world, and ways of living
• do not lose hope in the capacity of your brain; with a gpa of 3.32/4.0 and after surviving so much in the world at large (including gad and handling neurodivergence), you must always do your best to learn
• love your craft and love yourself enough to know when to use and not to use ai
• be kind enough to yourself as you learn and to others as they process the effects and use of ai
• all primary ideas and story premises must originate from your mind
• all initial drafts must primarily be written first by you, not by ai
• ai shall be used primarily for non-generative purposes, specifically three things: learning (i.e., research, data validation, deep analysis), correcting (i.e., line editing, dev editing, fact checking), and summarizing (i.e., logging, organizing, systematizing, listing, archiving)
• every single thing generated by ai must be thoroughly read and edited by you (strictly no copy paste and go)
• pick a specific llm, research it, train it every day, and do proper handovers and backups for everything
• everything written/untouched by ai must be in small caps to help your brain identify information
• any work with generative ai must be labeled as such, properly and without shame
• any work created with non-generative ai must also be labeled properly (i.e., watermarks, disclaimers, bio policies)
